This week I came back from a 2½ week long road trip with a friend. The whole trip was improvised, without fixed plan or destinations. Almost every day we were moving on, but in very small steps to be able to also see a bit of the places we visited. We mostly hitch hiked but also took buses and shared taxis at some points of the trip, or even rented a car. For sleeping, we had the luck to several times get hosted by people we randomly met, other times we slept outside in the desert, used Couchsurfing or found an apartment or hostel. For example in Zofar the guy who picked us up while hitch hiking also hosted us for free at his family’s home in their moshav settlement (similar to kibbutz) and letting us join their amazing family dinners.
Here is the trace for this trip:
| 23/12 | Tel Aviv |
| 24/12 | Jerusalem |
| 25/12 | Bethlehem |
| 26/12 | Hebron |
| 27/12 | Daharia |
| 28/12 | Be’er Sheva |
| 29/12 | Arad, Ein Gedi (Dead Sea) |
| 30/12 | Zofar moshav |
| 31/12 | Eilat (Red Sea) |
| 1-2/1 | Aqaba (Red Sea) |
| 3/1 | Wadi Rum, Petra (city) |
| 4/1 | Petra (ancient city), Amman |
| 5-9/1 | Tel Aviv |
In Ein Gedi we managed to find a free ride with a pilot of a small airplane, but he were going to Tel Aviv so we decided not to go with him, as that would take us back to our starting point of the whole trip.
